Welcoming 2015!

Hi everyone.

Happy New Year! How has 2015 been for you so far? Mine's been pretty peaceful - I've just been chilling in this 30 degree heat before heading over to a friend's house for some baking and a movie.

To welcome in 2015, I went with a simple black and silver colour mix, with a splash of colour and bling. The silver holographic is none other than China Glaze OMG, the black is Ulta3 Black satin and the gold glitter is Essence Make it golden. I used the OPI Sheer Tints on my ring finger after painting with white acrylic paint.

I was pretty happy with this look with the exception of my fail scaled gradient. I tried to follow a tutorial by Simple Nailogical but it turned out reallyyyyyyy bad. The only reason I'm posting this is because I quite like my ring finger haha.

The freehand nail art was inspired by @yagala. Let me tell you this - trying to paint freehand when you're hungry proves a challenging task! ;)

Christmas nails 2014

Hello everyone.

Here is my belated post sharing what I wore for Christmas this year. In fact, I was in the mood for some detailed freehand nail art (detailed in my terms, of course!) so I went with painting on a nativity scene!

I found Jacki from Adventures in Acetone's gorgeous creation and just had to try it myself. I would have loved to have added some camels and wise men, but this alone took me over an hour for one hand...oops. Should have planned my time better since I needed to sleep! ;)

christmas nativity

I created a gradient with OPI Incognito in Sausalito and OPI Keeping Suzi at bay. I then added a coat of Glitter Gal Galaxy holo top coat for the sparkle. The nail art was done using acrylic paint.

I'm quite proud of how this turned out despite the wobbly freehand! How did you pass your Christmas day and what did you wear on your nails?

Mix & match cheetah print

Hi ladies!

OPI Do you have this color in Stockholm is a lovely saturated purple I just had to wear! I paired it with some OPI Need sunglasses? and Orly Bling for the well...bling holographic goodness I can't seem to get enough of!

Navy anchor

Hi everyone,

One of my colleagues requested a blue and white nail look and since she loves anchors, I came up with this look :)

I used China Glaze First mate, Hello Kitty Golden girl and Ulta3 Pot of gold.

It didn't turn out too clean and I wish I had redone my pinky. Still, she liked it :)

Green and gold skittle

Hey there :) Wow, this manicure was put together a while ago so please bear with me as I try to recall the nail polishes used! I believe the mint green is Essie Turquoise & Caicos, the gold foil is Hello Kitty Golden girl, the gold glitter is OPI My favourite ornament and the holographic sparkle on my pinky is Orly Sparkling garbage.

Pink roses

Hello there! :) I did these pink roses a while back so my memory's a bit rusty in terms on the polishes used - I'll try my best though. I applied two coats of OPI My very first knockwurst as a base, and then added a glitter gradient on my index and pinky using OPI You pink too much. I painted on some roses on my middle nail using OPI Hey baby, Australis Sitting on a cloud and Misa Dirty, Sexy, Money. I took my dotting tool and Sitting on a cloud for the dots on my ring finger.

A vampire Czechbook

Hello everyone :) I'm still taking my baby steps back into nail art after my break, so please excuse the wobbly freehand here! I quite liked the colour combination and nail art techniques - just need to work on the execution bit haha.

I used OPI Can't find my Czechbook and My vampire is buff for this look, plus my trusty striper brush and dotting tool :)

Half moon roses

Hello everyone! I have my first nail art post after returning from overseas, so my technique is definitely a bit lacking after not polishing for a bit. I do like the look of it from a distance though, so I decided to post this :)

Pinky & index: Two coats of OPI A grape fit with OPI Haven't the foggiest for the half moon.
Ring: Two coats of Haven't the foggiest.
Middle: Two coats of A gape fit with the roses painted using OPI I love applause, Hey baby, Ulta3 Lily white, China Glaze Holly-day and Re-fresh mint.
Thumb: Two coats of A grape fit.

I did haul quite a bit of skincare products whilst overseas and surprisingly enough, only a few bottles of nail polish :P I guess I'm finally getting picky again over my nail polish purchases.

Do you go crazy with nail polish hunting when you're on holiday? ;)

Blue and gold cheetah

Hey everyone :) Whilst I was still grasping onto the last of the warmer weather here down under, I pulled out my favourite sky blue OPI Can't find my Czechbook and paired it with some gold and cheetah print. The gold glitter is OPI My favorite ornament and the off white shade is OPI My vampire is buff. I layered a coat of Glitter Gal Galaxy holo top coat on my index finger.

Chinese New Year 2014

Hey everyone! This is a belated Chinese New Year post to show you the simple nails I had welcoming in the year of the Horse :) This manicure is inspired by the talented @nailsbywenz over on Instagram. I didn't have any flower nail stickers so I decided to freehand them instead and added a gold rhinestone from Born Pretty Store as an accent.

cny2014

I applied OPI The thrill of Brazil at the tips on all of my nails except for my ring and thumb. As the accent nails, I have two coats of OPI Love.Angel.Baby.Music and finished the look off with top coat.

cny2014

I love how rhinestones can be used to add a little more interest to nail art like flowers :) You can find a pack of three different rhinestone shape wheels on Born Pretty Store for $8.58. I also have a discount coupon PIJ61 for an extra 10% off , on top of the free shipping BPS offers worldwide.

Thank you for reading.

January Nail Art Challenge: Pastel blue

(Oops, this was meant to be up yesterday, but I forgot to post it! Better late than never though :P)

Hi everyone :) Today's prompt is pastel blue and I have to admit, with such a broad theme, I was a little stumped to begin with. I finally decided to go with a skittle look and here is the result!

Pinky & index: Two coats of Australis Sky high layered with Australis Carnivale chaos. I added two coats of Flormar #20 to create a glitter sandwich look.
Ring & thumb: Three coats of Sinful Colors Cinderella.
Middle: Two coats of Sky high. I created a one stroke butterfly look with some acrylic paint.

I love how the rainbow glitter looks like a garden of flowers off in the distance which the butterfly is flying towards :)

Leopard chrome nails

Hey ladies! Today's manicure is inspired by the super talented @kimiko7878, who was in turn inspired by @_nail_bliss_ on Instagram. I saw her photo of these leopard nails and decided to add my take on it.

leopard chrome

On my pinky & index fingers I have two coats of OPI Did you 'ear about Van Gogh. The leopard print was created using Hello Kitty Golden girl. On my ring finger, I took some gold foil pieces and added them over Ulta3 Black satin. On my middle finger, I have two coats of OPI Push & shove from the Gwen Stefani collection. I'm hoping I'll stop procrastinating and get a review up of Push & shove soon too!

January Nail Art Challenge: Fresh

Hi ladies! This is actually a rather exciting post for me because for the first time in my blogging experience, I am going to take part in a nail art challenge! When I first saw this challenge posted up on Instagram by @californails, I knew I wanted to try it out because of the easy pace and simpler nail art prompts.

I'm a little late with the first prompt since I only saw it earlier today. I actually had a nail art idea immediately spring to mind involving fresh grass and flowers...too bad I didn't have the time to execute it :( Instead, I'm left with rather hurried and bird-like roses which only just sort of link with the 'fresh' theme.

fresh flowers

I used OPI My vampire is buff for the off white shade. I took OPI Can't find my CzechbookKeeping Suzi at bay and AmazON...AmazOFF to freehand the roses. I also layered a thicker coat of OPI Pirouette my whistle on my index and pinky nails.

fresh flowers

I'm hoping I'll have more time over the weekend to brainstorm better ideas for the future prompts. What do you think, will you be joining in on this nail art challenge? :)

Green vintage roses

Hi ladies! I can't believe it's already December 1st! This year has truly flown by and I've really got to pick up my game if I want to post all the manicures I've done this year by the end of this month. I guess that'll mean I should be posting more often now...? ;) At least, I hope to.

Anyway, here is a green vintage rose nail art I put together a couple of weeks ago. I love how simple it is to create a double accent look with some rose nail art and OPI Pure 18K white gold and silver top coat. I used OPI Thanks a windmillion (my favourite dusty green ♥) as the base. To complete the look, I added some green rhinestones on my index and pinky.

I believe my roses still need some working on to look less like fishes, but at a distance they were passable :P What do you think of this double accent look?

Blue and neutral cheetah

Hello everyone~ When I first received OPI Pure 18K white gold & silver top coat, I knew I would have to try it over a dark base. I pulled out China Glaze First mate to pair with the special top coat, as well as a neutral base (OPI My vampire is buff) to make the accent nails pop more. To glam up the neutral nails a little bit, I fished out some glitter pieces from OPI I snow you love me.

I really liked how soft but glamourous this manicure looked. I just love my new OPI 18K top coat so much ♥♥

Do you own this top coat? What do you think of it?

Purple ombre nail art

Hello ladies. I'm not 100% sure of the way today's nail look turned out. For some reason, it looked so much better when I was planning it out in my head. Maybe I just have bad execution skills lol.

Pinky: Two coats of OPI Siberian nights.
Ring: Two coats of Ulta3 glamourpuss.
Middle: Nail art created with all four shades and a white striper brush.
Index: Two coats of OPI Do you lilac it?
Thumb: Two coats of Essie St Lucia lilac.

Pinky, index & thumb are all topped with OPI I juggle...men.

purple ombre nail art

Maybe it was the terrible nail art, or the weird cracking I got from layering I juggle...men. I just don't feel this look at all. What do you think?
