A punky manicure

Hi ladies! Here is a quick 'punky' nail look comprised of my favourite pink combination - pink & black ;)

Pinky: Two coats of OPI 4 in the morning. I took a nail art white striper to create the stripes.
Ring: Two coats of OPI Hey baby. I added a gold stud as an accent for the nail.
Middle & thumb: Two coats of OPI My vampire is buff. Cheetah print created with Hey baby and black nail art striper.
Index: Two coats of 4 in the morning.

Flowery french manicure

Hi ladies :) So I never ended up experimenting more with wedding appropriate nail looks due to time constraints. Instead, I turned to youtube for some inspiration and came across this video. Of course, I just had to try it out myself!

I started with two coats of OPI Passion and then freehanded the french tip with Ulta3 lily white and my white striper polish. I then took my acrylic paints and drew on the flowers, before topping the whole look off with a coat of OPI Pirouette my whistle.

I really liked how soft and pretty this manicure looked but after a day, my dodgy flowers were really standing out to me so I took it off lol :( At least it lasted for the wedding!

A leopard printed dragon

Hi everyone~ I was lacking inspiration awhile ago and so decided to try out my holo leopard look which I had previously shown here. I went with A-England Dragon as the base and then used my nail art brushes for the white, black and silver glitter nail polishes. For the leopard spots, I used OPI Just spotted the lizard. I'm not sure I dig the look this time though.

Sorry for the messy polish at my cuticles too - I didn't realise it looked so bad on macro ><

Some sun photos for the holographic goodness to be brought out! I need to wear Dragon again on its own to enjoy it more :)

Review: Born Pretty Store dried flower

Hi everyone :) I recently received some items from Born Pretty Store to review. Today I have some dried flower which can be used for nail art. The kit comes with 12 randomly selected dried flowers and costs $7.08 per kit. I found from the two little pots of flowers I used (will have to check with the other ones to see if they're the same), there are only enough flowers included for one hand - i.e. 5 dried flower pieces. This wasn't a problem for me as I intended to vary the flowers in my mani; however, you may have to cut some up if you wish to use one type of flower for an entire manicure.

I started off with two coats of China Glaze Light as air and Ulta3 spring shower on alternating nails. Taking my Glossyblossom nail art striper, I applied the white stripes. I then chose to use the blue and purple dried flowers I received and coordinated it with some rhinestones.

To stick the flowers onto my nail, I simply dabbed a little clear polish onto the end of my dotting tool to pick the flower up. I then dabbed a little more of the polish onto the back of the flower before pressing it down onto my nail, making sure that the edges stuck down. After adding the rhinestones in the same method, I sealed my manicure with a top coat.

I can't comment on the wear of the dried flowers as my mani never dried, even after 3hrs. It was completely destroyed in my shower, unfortunately :( I'm not sure if it was the flowers which slowed the drying time down as I've used these polishes before with the same top coat and had no issues. I'll have to try this again as I quite liked the end result.

Suzi loves cowboys

Hi ladies~ It's really starting to get chilly here in Australia since we'll be entering out winter months soon. So what better way to wave that in than with a mug of hot chocolate! Or nail polish wise, a bottle of OPI Suzi loves cowboys.

I started off with two coats of Suzi loves cowboys and they were two effortless coats. I really do love the prowide brush that OPI has, it makes application for me so much easier. The formula was nice too, although more watery than I would have expected from a crème polish. Nothing bad that affected application though. For my accent nail, I applied two coats of Ulta3 Lily white. I alternated the colours for some nail art, using my Glossyblossom nail art striper for the white stripes and dotting with SLC on my accent nail.

It's simple and effortless, but more interesting than a plain manicure :) What do you think of it?

Stripy skittles :)

Hello ladies~ Australia has finally entered the autumn months but has really yet to feel the cold truly. So I decided to sport some colour on my nails to encourage the nice weather :P I love skittling and really need to do it more often, so here is my attempt at a bright(er) skittle mani.

Pinky: Two coats of Ulta3 Royal fever
Ring: Two coats of OPI Fly
Middle: Two coats of OPI My address is Hollywood
Index: One coat of Ulta3 Lily white then two coats of Essie Turquoise & Caicos
Thumb: Two coats of MNY Colorama Candy apple

I then added the white stripes with my white striper polish and took my nail art stickers from Nails & Stuff to add some decoration. I love the butterfly stickers, they're sooo pretty ♥ Unfortunately, they didn't hold up too well and the edges of the stickers like the smaller wings of the butterfly or the feelers were torn off after I got out of the shower. Still, they didn't look too damaged so I kept this mani for three days :P The majority of the sticker remained in that time.

Swatches and review: Did you 'ear about Van Gogh?

Hello everyone~I have for you today my first nail polish from OPI's Holland collection! Did you 'ear about Van Gogh is a lovely neutral crème and totally work appropriate. I found the formula a little thicker than I am used to from OPI but it wasn't too bad. Application was nice - I love the pro wide brushes hehe. Here, I've used two coats.

I love crème polish (in fact, they're one of my favourite finishes) but I did find the polish a tad boring after awhile. I decided to add a little nail art and glitter to make my mani more interesting and fun :) Since the shade of Did you 'ear about Van Gogh looked similar to a burberry pattern background, I decided to take a leaf out of Emerald Sparkled's post and drew on a plaid pattern onto my accent nails. I layered on one thick coat of L.A. Colors Starlight onto the rest of my nails.

I love that the polish is so work appropriate, especially since I don't own many :P What do you think of it?

It's the blues~

Hello ladies :) So after my green phase, it was time for the blues. I had just received Orly Stone cold from the latest Mineral FX collection in the mail and totally needed to try it out. Unfortunately, I think this mani looks so much better in photos - in real life, not so promising :(

I started off with two coats of Australis Sky high. I then used Ulta3 lily white and a dotting tool to add some polka dots. I took out my Glossyblossom nail art striper in white to paint the stripes. For my index and pinky nails, I applied two coats of Orly Stone cold. This is a gorgeous, gorgeous blue and I love it so much! I found application a little annoying though as the polish took a while to dry. If you don't leave enough dry time in between coats you'll definitely end up with a goopy mess. I think the end result is soooo worth it though, just look at the beauty and depth it has!

On my thumb I used a dotting tool to outline the heart in white before filling it in. I then layered on one coat of Mode cosmetics Diamonte. Using a smaller end of another dotting tool, I went around the heart with Aldo Stardust. Stardust is a sparse glitter polish which would look great for layering!

I'm proud of my heart, heh!

Skittling the purple

Hi everyone! Boy, Uni life sure is hectic even during a break. I finally completed my second assignment for the break and guess what? I have a third one to do. Yipee! :( My life will be absolutely crazy until November 25th, which is when my last exam for the year is scheduled to be. So until then, what with assignments, prac and exams, I have no idea how often I will be painting my nails, let alone updating this blog.

Whining over, on to the nails :) I went for purple this time but I'm not sure I like what I did.

I applied two coats of Sportsgirl Baby elephant onto my index and fifth fingers. It is a greyed out purple with a lovely shimmer - beautiful! For my thumb and middle finger, I applied two coats of OPI Parlez-vous OPI?. Decorated my thumb by placing some 3D objects on it and using my Glossyblossom nail art striper in white for the white lines on my middle finger. Zoya Dannii was applied on my fourth finger and also used to dot the flower on my middle finger.

My friend gave me some of the flat 3D decorations to play with for my birthday. She knows me too well ;)

Spring has arrived!

Hello lovelies~ Spring has arrived here in Australia and so what better way to celebrate this than to bring out the pastel polish shades? :) I saw 'chelle's awesome pastel mani and was inspired to create my own. I don't have any flower fimos so I used my dotting tool to paint some myself ^^

Boy, I used soooo many nail polishes for this mani. All stripes were applied with Glossyblossom nail art striper in white. Here's the whole list!

Pinky: base - two coats of Ulta3 spring fling; flower - Ulta3 watermelon, spring blossom
Ring: base - two coats of China Glaze Light as air; flower - Color Club Uptown girl, Ulta3 spring blossom

How fitting is it that half the polishes I used had 'spring' in their name? :) I am so, so, soooo in love with this mani ♥♥ I keep staring at my nails-eeeeek! Hehe, I love my pastel polishes and totally need to own more of them. What do you think of pastel shades? :)

When holo and leopard meet

Hi everyone~ :) I've been a total slacker and haven't even started studying for my next exam, how good am I? :P Instead, I've been relaxing and watching lots of drama, hehe. And painting my nails :) I really liked how this mani turned out, too bad I somehow wrinkled it.

The polishes I used in the mani:

Wild at heart is such a gorgeous holo and the awesome thing is that it's so opaque in one coat. I applied two out of habit but if you're careful, you can save this beauty and get away with one coat :). The photo below shows what it looks like in the sun. I can hardly remember what the sun looks like anymore, it's been raining so much here. And it's supposed to for the rest of the week too... :(

What do you think of this mani? I'm quite pleased with it and will try other combinations in the future too :D

Who blue this pretty over?

Hi everyone~ ^^ Ahh, such a lame title, I know. I really like how my current mani came out though, it's definitely blown me over by the prettiness, hehe.

Indoors, under natural light.

I first applied two coats of Ulta3 spring shower. On my pinky and index I layered one coat of China Glaze White cap. I used Glossyblossm nail art striper in white to paint the stripes and added one coat of L.A. Colors Star light for the glitter. Two coats of OPI Last Friday night was layered on my fourth finger. It's such a pretty blue glitter polish! Love it <3. Finally, I added some rhinestones on to my thumb.

And in the sun. I wish I was able to capture how gorgeous Last Friday night looked under the sun.

You may have realised I changed from the Blogger commenting system to Disqus. This makes replying to comments much easier so hopefully it works well for everyone. Do let me know if you have any trouble with it and I'll try to fix it :).

More randomness

Hey~ :) This was another easy nail art design I decided to do to jazz up my otherwise plain mani. I applied two coats of Sportsgirl Supernatural on my nails. For my accent nail I applied two coats of Ulta3 black satin and used Glossyblossom nail art striper in violet to do the stripes. Simple mani, but I like it :)

My life is becoming a lot more hectic now with assignments due in pretty much every single week. On top of that, I'll be starting prac and so posts will probably not be as often as they have been recently, haha. I guess I'll be going back to posting every 2 or so days, provided I have time to do my nails.

Nail art #17 - A bit of this and that ♥

Heyyyy! I just heard from a friend that one of my assignments due next week has been extended to mid Novemeber so I'm celebrating by not working on it and blogging :P. I'm also on the road to recovery now so I felt up for a little nail art today :). Just something random I came up with since I was in a cheerful mood today.

I used two coats of China Glaze's Light as air for my first, fourth and fifth fingers as well as the leopard prints on my third finger. For the base on that finger, I applied two coats of Ulta3's Lily White. I used Maybelline's Dark Chocolate for the black line and and leopard prints. White stripes are done by using my Glossyblossom striper. Oh, the glitter is from mwah's Magnetic.

I'm really happy with this mani overall and I especially love how the leopard prints turned out. I can't believe how easy they are to do! More of them coming in the future now, haha :P.

Nail art #16 - A sailor went to sea sea sea

In an attempt to reflect the sunny and warm days we had a couple of days ago, I tried my hand at some nautical themed nail art. I can't say I did  brilliantly though. Don't you just hate it when a beautifully planned out design in your head just doesn't translate onto your nails?

I applied two coats Savvy by DB's Cobalt and used Glossyblossom's nail art striper in White for the nail art. I made use of my rhinestones to form an anchor shape on my fourth finger and topped everything off with my Poshe top coat. I can't believe it streaked my stripes on my fifth finger! Oh Poshe :(.

I was alright with my result at first, but after looking at it the next morning, I began to dislike it. I don't even know why. -sigh- I really need to stop with the fail art and produce better nail art.

Nail art #14 - Halloween enough for you?

I'm not one who normally celebrates Halloween, it's not even a big holiday here in Australia, but after I came across this video, I knew I just had to have a go at it. My attempt wasn't the most successful, but from a distance, it looks pretty cool :P.

I used Ulta3's Black Plum  as the base and it's just a gorgeous wine red shimmer. Glorious, I tell you. I need to wear this on its own in the future, that's how much I love it. I then used Glossyblossom's nail art striper in White for the spider web. It's not brilliant, but I do like the outcome, especially when not up close. I swear it looks ten times better from a far.
