Review: Shimmer Polish Candace

Hi ladies! I have recently been given the opportunity to try out some of Cindy's nail polish line - Shimmer Polish. The first one I decided to try was Candace. This is a gorgeous glitter polish which is predominantly filled with gold holographic glitter pieces. Add a mixture of black glitter flecks and you've got a beautiful Candace in your hands.

I layered one medium coat of Candace over Australis Peek-a-boo. A perfect layering combo, in my opinion :)

Cindy has an amazing line of polishes, all inspired by her friends and family. You can take a look at the polishes she creates on her blog and her etsy shop. Check out all the amazing swatches and reviews on the Shimmer Polish facebook page too :)

Do you own any Shimmer Polish? What do you think of Candace?

Swatches and review: Picture Polish O'hara

Hi ladies! Today I have a beautiful red polish to share with you all - Picture Polish O'hara, part of the Opulence collection. Now for me, red and beautiful don't usually go together in a sentence when I'm describing nail polish but I think O'hara will be one of the few red nail polishes I love and will wear often. I didn't realise this at first but O'hara is in fact a holographic red polish. I think the beautiful bright red base  masks the holo a bit but it is still really evident under direct light. I applied two coats in my photos below.

Isn't it just amazing?! ♥ I've already worn it twice since receiving it in the mail and I know I'll be reaching for it again very soon ;)

O'hara can be purchased directly from Picture Polish and retails for $12. If you live outside of Australia, you may find resellers located in your country on the Network page.

Royal cloaked flowers

Hello everyone :) I recently came across Revlon Royal cloak when browsing the Revlon bin at my local Gloss. Good thing I went bin diving or I would have missed out on this beautiful purple polish! I applied two coats of Royal cloak and then stamped with Rimmel Your majesty and BM-224. Finally, I added some pearls from Born Pretty Store for a final touch. You can also use my code PIJ61 to receive 10% off your total purchase.

Green and silver, the Slytherin shades

Hello everyone! Awhile back I put together a green and silver manicure and afterwards, it really reminded me of the Slytherin house. I may or may not have subconsciously done this... ;)

Pinky & thumb: Two coats of China Glaze Holly-day and stamped with Rimmel Your majesty and BM-320.
Ring: Two coats of Holly-day and layered with China Glaze Graffiti glitter.
Middle: Two coats of Ulta3 black satin, then half of the nail layered with China Glaze Emerald sparkle. Separated with a silver striping tape.
Index: Two coats of Your majesty.

Swatches and review: Ozotic 624

Hi ladies! I recently wore Ozotic 624 and let me tell you, this one is an AMAZING holographic polish ♥ I applied two coats in the photos below and it flowed onto my nails. Application was such a breeze :) I really have nothing to fault with this grape purple holo, and oh, the holo effect! It is so strong and I found that wearing Ozotic 624 was a hazard for driving, I just kept wanting to admire my nails in the sun :P

Even when there is no direct light hitting it, 624 still looks amazing. Or maybe I'm just purple biased ;)

A dusty blue and golden skittle

Hello everyone~ I'm a bit short on words today, but definitely not on pictures so I'll just let them do most of the talking ;)

Pinky: Two coats of Misa Office polish-tics. (Badly) taped off my nails and applied a thick coat of Hello Kitty Golden girl. Finished the look off with a silver stud.
Ring: Two coats of Office polish-tics and applied a glitter gradient with Essence Make it golden.
Middle: Two coats of Orly High on hope.
Index: Two coats of Golden girl.
Thumb: Two coats of Office polish-tics and stamped with BM-315 and Golden girl.

I absolutely ADORE the way this manicure turned out ♥ The dustiness of Office polish-tics combined with High on hope and the gold just makes me want to paint my nails like this again. Maybe, maybe :P I would have loved this manicure even more if my taping had turned out better! I just tried to not look at that nail too much when I wore it... ;)

What do you think of this manicure?

Glimpse the rainbow amongst grey skies

Hello ladies :) I was recently hit with the genius idea of adding some colour and sparkle to a grey shade of polish. Cue Rimmel grey matter! It's my favourite grey polish and pretty much my go-to shade when I'm feeling a gloomier manicured look ;) This time though, I wanted to add some colour to the grey shade so after applying two coats of grey matter, I added a thicker coat of Ulta3 over the rainbow over it. Then, to soften the overall look, I layered a coat of OPI My pointe exactly.

I think it's not a usual glitter sandwich combination, putting grey and rainbow glitter together. But funnily enough, this was what made me love it all the more ♥ It's like there's always colour, even amongst the sea of grey :)

What do you think of this layering look?

Green colour blocking :)

Hello ladies! Often, I find inspiration from the many manicures I peruse on nail blogs and Pinterest. When I sit down to paint my nails, I will turn to these looks and add my own twist and flair into the final manicure. This time though, I pretty much copied a manicure from the talented lady over at La Paillette Frondeuse. She has some amazing manicures and when I spotted her colour blocking manicure, I knew I would have to copy it ;)

I changed the colour scheme due to my constant reach for purple - it is my comfort colour after all :P I wanted to work with a shade I don't usually wear and thus the green colour blocking was born. Plus, the decision was also influenced by the influx of green manicures due to it almost being St. Patrick's Day when I wore this. The polishes I used were OPI Jade is the new black, Misa Dirty, sexy, money, OPI Your royal shine-ness and Ulta3 lily white.

I absolutely love how the silver polish adds a little pop to the otherwise flatter looking manicure with just the crèmes. I definitely will be recreating this look with a different colour scheme ;)

Have you tried colour blocking your nails yet? What shades did you use?

Purple reciprocal gradient

Hello ladies :) When I first saw Emma's reciprocal gradient nails, I knew I would have to try them out one day. Of course, I kept putting it off until recently! For my look, I applied two coats of OPI Do you lilac it as a base colour, then took Ulta3 royal fever for the gradient. Once that was dried, I placed some striping tape on the nail and reversed the colours for the second gradient before removing the tape.

The end result?

Tada! ♥

I was planning on layering some fine holo glitter over it the next day, but I never got around to it :( I think it would have looked divine too, if I had!

Have you tried the reciprocal gradient look yet? What are your thoughts on it?

Thanks for reading.

We'll miss you, Google Reader ♥

Hi ladies! This post is a little off topic today in that it's not related to my nails. There's important news about the way you read and follow my blog though!

So basically, word has gotten around that Google Reader will cease to function from July 1st this year. Those of you who read and follow my blog through Google Reader will unfortunately have to find alternatives :( I'm not sure on how much it'll affect Google Friend Connect but here are some alternatives to following my blog anyway.

The good news is that Bloglovin' has a button which allows you to easily import all the blogs you follow from Google Reader onto Bloglovin'. I've received a number of new followers via Bloglovin' today so a fair few ladies have already started to make the switch.

Follow on Bloglovin

If you don't want to use Bloglovin', there are also a few others ways for you to follow my posts :)

Follow via Hellocotton. It's similar to Bloglovin', except without the easy button to import all blogs from Google Reader. It does however, have a huge range of blogs for you to search and sift through. Who knows, you might end up with another hundred of beauty or nail related blogs to follow ;)

Follow me on Hellocotton

I also have an email subscription option available on my right sidebar, underneath the Google Friend Connect widget. Or you can just hit ctrl + f and type 'email address' into the search bar to find it.

You can also follow me on my social media sites - either via Facebook or Pinterest. I also upload all my images to my Flickr account :)

Hopefully you find this post helpful and that you'll be able to keep up with my postings via one or more of the methods above :) I'm more than willing to help or answer any questions if you have any so you can comment below or shoot me an email for more information.

OPI Just spotted the lizard + BM319

Hi~! I remember when OPI came out with the Amazing Spiderman collection last year and super lemming Just spotted the lizard...being a Chanel Peridot dupe and all :P Of course, after the initial loving, I haven't worn it for months.

I decided to pull it out the other day and applied two coats on my nails. I then took BM319 and stamped with Ulta3 black satin. I also haven't stamped in awhile so the end result wasn't the best. At least the prettiness of Just spotted the lizard makes up for it though ;)

I just love the green/gold shift in this amazing duochrome. So much love! ♥

Do you have any polishes you used to really want to own? How often do you wear them? ;)

Blue skittling

Hello everyone~ Wow, I feel so uncreative when it comes to naming my posts :P

For this look, I started with two coats of Australis Blue tiger, which is a matte blue shade. On my ring finger, I have two coats of Australis Sky high and then layered with OPI Which is witch?. For my middle finger, I added a blue gradient using striping tape. I followed a tutorial by nailsbylins :) I took some hex glitters from Born Pretty Store to add a little more glitz to the look (you can enter PIJ61 for a further 10% off your purchase at the check out). Finally, I layered a coat of OPI Last Friday night over Blue tiger on my thumb.

blue skittles

Of course, I had to add a matte top coat to the look after a day since Blue tiger is originally a matte polish. I think for this look, I prefer the glossy finish more though :)

Skittle manicures are so fun to do! Even though it takes me ages to think of how to tie it all together, I love the final look so much ♥ Are you a fan of skittling your nails?

A pretty lilac layering ♥

Hi ladies! I have a pretty, but simple manicure to share today :) This manicure wasn't worn too long ago but I've already forgotten which purple polish was used...oops? :P I believe it is Nicole by OPI Love song though. I layered the pretty lilac with China Glaze White cap. The gorgeous golden flecks provide a subtle, but interesting look to the crème polish underneath ♥

White cap brings back good memories - it was the polish which really got me into layering ;) Are you a fan of layering looks? Do you have a favourite go to polish for layering?
