Swatches & review: OPI Germany collection

Hello everyone :) Today's post features four of the nail polishes from OPI's Germany collection. When I first saw the press release information for this collection, I was super excited and anticipating its release. When I got my hands on the bottles however...lets just say I wasn't all that impressed. Here's why!

The formulas on the polishes I received all varied in consistency. Some were thicker, some more watery, others a bit of both. I'll go into details when I talk about individual bottles.

First up I have Don't talk Bach to me. Why Bach? Or why this shade? I personally don't feel the great composer matches with the shade, but then again, that's just my opinion. I'm not sure the greened out yellow (or is it the other way around? The yellow looks more dominant to me though) is everyone's cup of tea, and it sure isn't mine. Especially bummed since Bach is mentioned in the polish name! I applied three coats in the photos below. Formula was thicker than normal but not unworkable.

I found that the silver shimmer in the polish added a nice touch, but I just couldn't get past the look of the polish against my skin tone. Such a bummer!

Deutsche you want me baby is a bright orange shade. I realise the orange trend has been around for a fair bit but as usual, I get into the trend only after it is in full swing. It's pretty and unique to my stash as I don't normally wear orange shades. The formula on this was more watery than I expected so careful application is required. Two coats are shown.

Sun shots show off the fine shimmer in this polish!

German-i-cure by OPI. Oh my gosh. Where do I start with this polish! I think if there's one polish you have to get from the collection, it has to be this one. A beautiful dark purple base mixed with some awesome red shimmer. I used two coats here and found the formula slightly funny...it was thick by watery, if that combination even exists. Get past that though and this is a bottle chock full of AWESOME. Love it! ♥

Again, sun photos show the shimmer off so much better <33

Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok fine! is a dark, dusty green. I have to admit the name gives me the giggles, but it is such a pain to type out. Besides that, nothing too exciting about this crème polish unless you're like me and adore crèmes and the shade. Two effortless coats for this one.

Having tried four of the polishes from this collection, I do have to say I'm a little underwhelmed. I was looking forward to it a fair bit and having thoroughly loved the Holland collection released earlier this year, my expectations were up for this collection. That being said, the Germany by OPI does contain a crème nice mixture of shimmer and crème nail polishes so if you're looking for some lovely shimmers and cremes, you might want to make the purchase.

Germany by OPI Collection will be available in leading beauty salons and all David Jones stores from August 1st 2012, $19.95 RRP. For your nearest OPI stockists contact 1800 358 999 or visit www.opi.net.au.

Any thoughts on the nail polishes - yay/nay?

Thanks for dropping by.
