Swatches & review: OPI Mariah Carey Holiday 2013 collection

Hi ladies :) When I first caught sight of the Mariah Carey Holiday 2013 collection at OPI's San Francisco breakfast event, I was super excited for a few of the shades.

I snow you love me was one which immediately caught my attention due to the unique circle holographic glitter. However, I was quite disappointed with how sparse the glitter is. My photos show one thick coat over a black base, and I had to swirl my brush around in the polish to get the glitter pieces out. I'm also not a fan of the random glitter placement. I might have to play around with this more and individually place pieces on the nail.

My favorite ornament is a light gold glitter. This has immensely better coverage and I applied two coats. I don't actually own many full nail glitter polishes so this one is receiving a warm welcome into my stash. Plus, it's versatile (especially for accent nails) and not only wearable during the holiday months :)

Wonderous star is a funny polish combination. I was initially drawn towards it due to the black glitter pieces but after applying it onto my nails, I'm sitting on the fence with it. On the one hand, it looks unique, but I also find the fine glitter a little overpowering and ends up shadowing the black glitter pieces. This was two coats.

Baby please come home is one of the six liquid sand nail polishes released in this collection. I love the lilac base - it's really right up my alley :) Two coats.

The Mariah Carey Holiday 2013 collection will be available in Australia from October 15, 2013.

What do you think of the glitters and liquid sand from the collection so far? Will you be picking any up?

Thanks for reading.

  2. I'll probably have to pick up that lilac one...My Favorite Ornament looks like it may be a dupe for Zoya Tomoko.

  5. I think the circle glitter and it being holographic is the only reason I can forgive the nail polish! I may actually be willing to dig them out for nail art :P

  8. I'm a tad sad that it requires fishing out. But then again - circle and holographic glitter! ♥

  9. I'm not too sure of how similar My Favorite Ornament is to Honey Rider in terms of colour (I don't own it), but it definitely doesn't have the same textured finish the liquid sands all have.
