Mmmm, spring blues

Hi ladies~ Sorry for the slack in posting lately! I'm entering a horror month of assignments but I'll try my best to keep posting sort of regularly.

I wore this mani a couple of weeks ago when Spring proved much warmer than the dreary rain we're getting today! This is Eclipse #706 Bikini blue (or so my very little Korean reading skills tell me). I then layered the beautiful sky blue with Nubar 2010. Mmm, flakey heaven! There are slightly more photos than I'd normally post because I couldn't choose... ;)

Reminds me of the summery weather we had just yesterday! What do you think, is this calling summer or what? ;)

Studding up the brights for summer & my first EOTD :)

Hi ladies! I'm super excited to show you today's manicure, so much so that it's jumped the queue of past notds ;) It's simple but totally suitable for the warm weather we're having today - it really screams summer!

I started with a base of BYS Colour Change Bright pink and Blue. It's so warm that you can't see the colour change on my nails...I might have to go play with some water soon ;) I then took some 2mm square studs from Born Pretty Store and stuck them onto the base of my nail. Ta-da! Simple, bright and summery :D

Next up! Recently, I have been dabbling into the world of make up. I am nowhere near decent at applying it yet but really, practice does make perfect. Well, eventually :P

I recently had the opportunity to try out some false eyelashes, complete with an applicator and glue. For a first time user, I found these extra tools to be quite helpful! I especially like the glue as it comes with a fine tipped brush, similar to those found in nail art striper polishes. It meant that I didn't have to clumsily apply the glue onto the base of the false eyelashes.

eotd (falsies)

So first up, here's the eye look, without the false eyelashes. Normally I wouldn't apply eyeshadow as I'm still not very good at it (please be nice!) but I had to hide my horrible dark circles somehow. I haven't been sleeping well lately and my concealer just couldn't handle the darkness.

eotd (no falsies)

Here, I've applied a false eyelash. As you can see, it's superrrrrrrrrr long! I personally wouldn't go out wearing these because it's really apparent they're falsies but I might give them a trim and try them out again.

A side shot to compare the lengths of the false eyelash and my natural ones. Oh, a trim is definitely in need!

Born Pretty Stores sells a variety of nail and beauty products at really cheap prices with free international shipping. And if you use my code PIJ61, you'll receive 10% off your total purchase!

What do you think of my first attempt? :P As I said before, I've only just dipped my toes into the world of make up but with more practice, I'm bound to improve. Right...? :)

At the very least, I love my nails. They're so bright! :D Are there any northern hemisphere girls still reaching for the summer shades?

My take on splatter nails

Hi everyone! Awhile back I decided to have a go at the splatter manicure with a twist and I love the way it turned out! :) I started with a white base colour - Ulta3 lily white and then took my Bundle Monster plate in BM-301 to stamp the splatter design with. Using Gold Speck Nails' tutorial, I dabbed OPI Jade is the new black, Eclipse Bikini blue, Double Dutch Cosmetics Tickled pink and Ulta3 Royal fever onto the plate and stamped the design randomly onto my nails. I really like how it turned out! :)

So, a splatter-looking manicure without the mess which comes with it ♥ Have you tried the splatter technique before? What are you thoughts on the stamped version?

Chic, black manicure

Hi everyone~ As a lover of dark polishes, I love black nail polish. Unfortunately plain black doesn't look good on my tips so I have to dress them up. And so this chic and black manicure was born!

I started with two coats of Australis Blackmail as the base colour on all my nails except for the middle one. On the middle finger, I applied two coats of Hello Kitty Golden girl, then layered OPI Black shatter over it. On my index and pinky, I layered a coat of OPI Metallic 4 life. For my ring finger I added some torn up gold foil pieces I received from Born Pretty Store. Lastly, I layered a coat of Essence Make it golden on my thumb.

I really liked how the gold, silver and black came together! This is totally the way to wear black nail polishes ;)

Are you  a lover of dark polishes? Which one is your favourite?

Flashy lightening bolts

Hello ladies~ I'm finally showcasing my first stamping attempt with the Bundle Monster stamping plates! I received them for a birthday a couple of weeks ago and never got around to playing with them until awhile later. Anyway, here's my attempt with plate BM-301. I started with two coats of Orly Sweet peacock and then stamped with a no brand black polish. I loved the contrast of the bright Orly blue and the black.

Mmm, can't wait to play with these plates more! ;) Do you own the set of plates?

Pretty, girly and french :)

Hello ladies! Another quick post today as I finish off my essay (finally!). I started with two coats of OPI Passion, then layered a coat of NOPI Kim-Pletely in love. I freehanded the french tip using NOPI It's all about the glam and added the silver glitter with a nail art striper polish. Quick and easy for a work appropriate manicure which I wore while I was still on prac :)

I'm not normally big on the French manicure, but it was pretty and something to wear while on prac. What's your stance on French manicures?

Saran wrap and fail stamping

Hello hello :) With this being my second time trying out the saran wrap technique, I was really pleased with the outcome of it. I started with a base colour of OPI Do you lilac it? and letting it dry before taking OPI My very first knockwurst and applying a thick coat of it over Do you lilac it?. I then used my cling wrap to dab over the nail, taking away bits of My very first knockwurst to create the marbled look.

Awesome looking, no? ^^

But because I can't leave the good alone, I just had to stamp over it using fauxnad plate m64.

Which actually wasn't such a bad idea, the final glitter layering just ended up being too much and I promptly removed the manicure. The glitter was LA Colors Starlight.

It totally would have looked okay without the glitter :(

Have you overdone a manicure before and how so?
