Black, hot pink & glitter

Hi ladies :) Happy New Year! How did you spend your last moments of 2013? I spent today lazing around at home and didn't get up to much

I have a couple more nail looks from 2013, then I'll be almost up date with my photos. For some reason, I always tend to match hot pink with black, and these nails are no exception to the case. The pink is definitely much more neon in real life and was the main attention grabber of the five nails ;)

black, hot pink & glitter

Pinky & index: Two coats of Ulta3 Black satin.
Ring: Two coats of Color Club Magic attraction & OPI In true Stefani fashion.
Middle: Three coats of Frenz Nail Flus12.
Thumb: Two coats of Black satin layered with In true Stefani fashion.

Frenz Nail is a brand which I am new to. I did a brief Google search and have found this to be a French nail polish brand. I don't think it's too easily accessible in Australia at the moment, but you can find several of Frenz Nail's collections available on Maconii Collection. At the moment holographic, flakey, neon and glitter collections are available, with prices ranging from $9.95 - $12.95 a bottle.

I have to admit I'm not the greatest neon lover, but when it is used as an accent in a manicure, I can't complain :P

Have you heard of this nail polish brand before? Which nail polishes are catching your attention?

Beachy nails

Hi everyone! Sorry for disappearing this week, I've been so busy and just didn't have the chance to sit down and type up posts. I went through a major swatch session today though, so expect some more posts popping up soon! The nails were actually a mishmash of what I felt like when putting it together, but it ended up looking rather beach inspired :)

Pinky: Two coats of Ulta3 black satin and a star stud.
Ring: Two coats of Color Club High society.
Middle: Two coats of Shimmer Polish Irene.
Index & Thumb: Two coats of Ulta3 watermelon and a star stud.

An unexpected layering outcome ♥

Hello everyone :) The other night, I was in the mood for a more work appropriate look so I pulled out Color Club High society to wear. However, the crème was just a tad boring so I decided to layer another polish on top. Cue Ozotic 906... and the most beautiful work appropriate nails ever! ♥

Sorry for the wrinkled nail - I managed to snag it while it was still drying :( Still, it looked pretty awesome :D

Do you own any of these Ozotic polishes? What would you layer them over?

Entering 2013 with a bang ♥

Hi ladies! Today is a busy day as I prepare a dish of food to bring to a friend's NYE party so this will be a quick one! I was initially at a loss as to what I should have on my nails to welcome in 2013. For the past two years, I saw to it that the new year was waved in with glitter manicures (see here & here) but I wanted something a little more this time around. Cue a holographic nail polish and 3D nail accessories :D

On my thumb and index nails, I applied two coats of Color Club Revvvolution. I always forget how pretty this charcoal holo polish is so I'm glad I pulled it out to wear for the last time in 2012! ;) On my middle nail, I have two coats of Ulta3 black satin. I then applied some rhinestones, pearls and bullion beads as an accent. I also fished out the hex glitter shapes in Ulta3 pot of gold to add to the accents. I have two coats of China Glaze Tinsel town on my ring and a layering combination of black satin (two coats) and pot of gold on my pinky.

The sun wasn't cooperating for my photos - the light was weak so the rainbow from Revvvolution couldn't come out to play as well as I hoped.

I absolutely adore this manicure, I think mostly because of my 3D nail accessories accent ;) It's not often I get to use them excessively like this! What do you think, is it too much or okay as an accent? :)

Have a happy new year everyone and see you again in 2013! ♥

Blue, glitter and black mish mash

Hello hello :) Yes, I totally didn't know how to name this post - the manicure really is rather random. Random, but nice. I really enjoyed wearing it! ♥ And may I add, the saran wrap I did was my favourite. I need to do an entire manicure with the same colour combination soon, the denim look is awesome :D

Pinky: two coats of Cult Nails Princess
Ring: two coats of Princess, then saran wrapped with China Glaze First mate
Middle: two coats of Australis Blackmail. I then taped off my nail and layered Color Club Magic attraction at the base and added the 2mm stud from Born Pretty Store as an accent
Index: three coats of Magic attraction
Thumb: two coats of Princess, stamped with fauxnad m69

Stamping series: Fashion addict meets geometry

Hi everyone! Keeping up with the stamping series I have going, today's post features Color Club Fashion addict. This is a soft lavender purple holo which I don't wear often enough (shame on me!). I didn't manage to get good photos of it on its own but you can imagine the beauty of it ;) I stamped with BYS Thank god it's friday and plate m73.

Here is the plate I used to stamp the design. It's an exact replica of the Konad one, except it's cheaper and can be bought from Born Pretty Store.

I love playing around with the plates and trying out the designs. Do you enjoy stamping? :)

Thanks for dropping by.

Purple viking paired with Uptown girl?

Hi ladies! I didn't realise the hilarity of my layering combination nail polish name wise until I had to type up this post :P I started off with two coats of Color Club Uptown girl before layering one coat of Savvy by DB Purple viking over it. Gotta love the pairing of this...nail polish wise ;)

uptown girl layered with purple viking1

Savvy by DB is a nail polish line found in Priceline and was recently revamped with a better, cooler line of nail polishes. I can't wait to see what else this brand comes out with! At $2.99 per bottle, I may or may not have to go back and pick up the other glitters... :P

uptown girl layered with purple viking2

Purple viking reminds me of Sally Hansen Be-Jeweled, but a less dense version. I don't own the SH so I can't vouch for it but looking at swatches, they do seem rather close!

What do you think of this pretty purple glitter?

Sea gradient

Hi ladies :) I'm super happy with the way this manicure turned out so lets get straight into it! I started off with two coats of China Glaze Caribbean blue. Once that was decently dried, I sponged on a gradient with Australis Flip-flops, a gorgeous glass-flecked blue polish. With the sea gradient backdrop done, I double stamped a dolphin image from fauxnad plate C09. I should probably get a photo of that up one day :P

I double stamped because my first attempt with Color Club Wild orchid didn't stand out from the blue. I wanted to keep it though because dolphins are in this shade. To make the image stand out more, I went back to stamp with Rimmel Your majesty.

Going dotty!

Hi everyone~ I feeling I've really hit the blogging rut - I have quite a few photos of manis I've worn over the past few weeks, but absolutely no inspiration to post about them. Hopefully this passes over soon, since I'm more than happy to continue polishing my nails :)

For this mani, I started off with two coats of Color Club Wild orchid, one of my first purchases from this brand. And then, because I felt like some simple nail art, I took out China Glaze Light as air, Ulta3 Spring blossom and OPI Thanks a windmillion to dot with. In hindsight, Thanks a windmillion probably wasn't such a good choice since the green appears quite dark over the base colour in comparison to the other two shades.

I wasn't a huge fan of this mani, but it wasn't too bad for a simple nail art mani. What do you think of this?

Comparison: Orly Faint of Heart

As promised, here is the comparison of Orly Faint of Heart which I showed in my previous post :) I brought out my nail sticks as I had them all swatched out and at hand - I hope you don't mind!

From top to bottom:
High society, Faint of heart, French quarter for your thoughts, Earl grey

comp1

High society is the most different of the four, having more purple in it than the others. Earl grey, French quarter for your thoughts and Faint of heart are more similar but if you look closely, Faint of Heart has just that smidgen more purple in it to help it look different to the other two polishes.

comp2

Do you really need all of them? For a girl who isn't all that into neutrals, I'd say no (and I'm quite surprised I have so many similar ones in my stash!). However, if you're a collector and love neutral shades, you'll probably be able to justify the differences to own all of them :P

I hope this comparison was helpful! What do you think, do you need all four? And I would love your feedback on the nail sticks too - like/dislike? ^^

ps. I just changed my blog template too; I just had to bring back the purple love! ♥

Thanks for reading :)

Layering with Alias

Hi ladies~ Thanks so much to the girls who have helped me clear my stash and bought from my blog sale :) If you haven't done so, check it out here! I'm happy to negotiate prices so do email me if you see anything you like!

Anyway, onto the polish :) What do you get when you cross a purple with duochrome? Utter perfection, that's what ♥ I started off with two coats of Ulta3 Royal fever, which I forgot to take a photo of, darn! It's a gorgeous purple crème - soooo opaque too! Anyway, I decided to layer over it Color Club Alias as I've been meaning to use it again ^^ Since it's sheer, layering it was! Photos show two coats of Alias over Royal fever.

Back to basics: A good old holo!

Hey everyone~ Sometimes, after some complicated nail art or even just sponging, it's a nice feeling to just be able to slap on some nail polish and call it a day :P No spending time thinking of a design, no need to wait for coats to dry, and best of all, it takes less than 20mins! ♥

Here I have 2 coats of Color Club Fashion addict. This is only my second time wearing it - darn, I need to bring my holo polishes out more to wear!

No sunlight:

Direct sunlight:

And under artificial light. It's not colour accurate here, but just look at the gorgeous holo coming to life! <3

I know a lot of polish lovers adore holo polishes. Are you any different? :P

A sponged rainbow

Hi ladies~ Awhile ago, I saw this mani over on Let them have polish and knew I would one day have to recreate this look. I loved the gradient shift of colours on the nail and hey, more leopard print. Why not? :P (Yeah...this is my third one in less than a month? Hehehehehe.)

sponge rainbow1

I really love the way this turned out. I'm into day 3 of wearing this! Such a record haha, since I normally change my mani every 1-2 or so days.

sponge rainbow2

I used so many nail polishes I'm just going to post a photo of the bottles used. If you want to know more, just ask :)

Hmmm, I might try a crackle polish over this next time. What do you think?

Prince Charming is blingy

Hi everyone~ Not much talking today, onto the polish!

blingy prince charming1

This is two coats of Orly Prince charming layered with one coat of Color Club Magic attraction. I hadn't intended for the glitter to be so dense but it seems my bottle of MA has thickened quite a bit since I last used it.

I'm not so sure about this combination, what do you think?
